What are the responsibilities and job description for the High school ela teacher position at Lad Lake Inc?
Lad Lake Synergy School is a behavioral reassignment school contracted through the Milwaukee Public Schools. Students are assigned to our school at different times throughout the academic year for various behavioral offenses.
Some students exit our program at the end of each semester, and new students are assigned. Our Synergy school schedule consists of a seven-period day.
JOB SUMMARY
To provide educational services through creative, caring integrated methods that maximize the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of students.
Provide an educational setting for youth ensuring the culture is consistent with trauma-sensitive, family-focused, community-based, and best practice principles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Share a commitment to the success of the mission, goals, and objectives of Lad Lake.
- Fosters an educational environment conducive to learning.
- Plan instructional programs designed to meet individual student needs and whole groups which may include at-risk and / or special-needs youth.
- Follow Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) curriculum with special attention to cultural sensitivity.
- Prepares lesson plans.
- Participates in developing and monitoring student education plans.
- Uses necessary and appropriate instructional methods and materials, which are suited to the well-being of the students and to the nature of the learning activities.
- Confers with students, parents or guardians, and other staff, maintaining an open positive relationship as appropriate to provide guidance and evaluation, and to encourage student achievement.
- Maintains up-to-date grades and student academic evaluations
- All other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree
- Wisconsin teaching certificate :
- Required Licensed Area : Teaching License or Long-Term Substitute License
- Preferred Licensed Areas : English, Language Arts
- Previous experience working with emotionally and behaviorally disabled (EBD) students or at-risk adolescent populations.
2 to 3 years of successful classroom behavior management experience.
- Must be able to deal with students positively and confidently; be equitable when working with a culturally, racially, and economically diverse student population.
- Able to adapt to change, be flexible, and be confident.
