What are the responsibilities and job description for the Banquet Server & Bartender position at Lafayette Club?
We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic, service-oriented banquet servers and bartenders that will provide an excellent guest experience. Provide quality food and beverage service to members and guests in an efficient and courteous manner.
We are hiring for the summer season, but this position can be year-round with hours dropping in the winter season. Compensation includes hourly rate plus service charge, and is commensurate with experience. We offer free uniforms, paid meal breaks and employee meals are provided during shift.
Responsibilities
- Pick-up a function sheet from the clipboard or receive instructions from the Banquet Manager upon the beginning of your shift. Familiarize yourself with the event, playing close attention to the timing and the food and beverage service of the event.
- Attend pre-function meetings as required.
- Perform related banquet set-up tasks.
- Provide immediate attention to all members and guests upon entering the event room
- Greet and welcome members and guests by using their names when available and address by Mr., Mrs., and Ms. where appropriate.
- Display event food and beverage knowledge to include menu, portion sizes, preparation, accompaniments, and plate presentation.
- Advise supervisor of any member or guest complaints as soon as they occur.
- Assist in closing functions such as removing linen, bussing glasses, dishes, silverware, etc., and re-setting the room for next function.
Required Experience:
- Prior banquet serving and/or bartending experience is required. Prior private club experience is highly desirable.
- Must be at least 18 (required to serve alcohol).
- Polished appearance, and professional demeanor.
- Assures that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Continuous repetitive motions.
- Work in hot, humid, and noisy environment.
