AUTOMOTIVE BODY SHOP MANAGER

THE POSITION: The Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Body Shop in professional manner while ensuring quality repairs, excellent CSI, tech and Employee retention, Insurance ratings, and growing the business.

Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1-2 years in an auto body shop repair facility (preferred) or dealership service department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain Customer Satisfaction Index ratings (as determined by In house and Insurance indicators).
- Maintain dealership standards for “hours per customer repair order written”
- Greet customers in a timely, friendly and professional manner.
- Communicate with customers to determine the nature of their repair needs.
- Evaluate the vehicle thoroughly to determine extent of damage and need for repairs.
- Photograph the vehicle to support the damage for insurance purposes.
- Establish each customer’s method of payment. Obtain approval of credit if necessary.
- Obtain customer’s signature on repair order, provide customer with a copy.
- Work with insurance adjusters to ensure all information is provided in order for payment to be received.
- Check job status as often as necessary to ensure timely and accurate work.
- Handle telephone inquiries regarding work in progress and appointments.
- Compare final invoice with original repair order.
- Maintain current receivable schedules.
- Maintain current open RO counts.
- Manager meetings, expense reviews, operational reviews, and forecast meetings.
- Handle all insurance Companies, Make/Models.
- Ensure vehicles are repaired properly and on time.
- Ensure that work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean.
- Forecast goals and objectives for the department.
- Hire, train, motivate, counsel and monitor the performance of all body shop staff.
- Be sure shop is open and Employees are ready and eager to greet and handle Customers on time.
- Be to work on time and set the example for your employees.
- Provide technical assistance as needed.
- Monitor payroll.
- Keep abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommend purchases.
Physical Requirements:
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Occasionally required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and handle tools.
- Occasionally requires the ability to lift 20 pounds of material.
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
- Is potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle repair facility.
- Occasionally, exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.
