JOB SUMMARY:
The Fiduciary Accountant role is responsible for all assigned client affairs in accordance with individual and/or family requests, as well as all applicable laws. Reporting to the Fiduciary Account Manager, the Fiduciary Accountant will take an ethical approach in maintaining client records for real and personal property and other assets. While living Lagerlof’s core values of “Integrity, Hard Work, Excellence, and Team,” the Fiduciary Accountant will have primary responsibility for the record-keeping and bill paying for each assigned client’s trusts, estates and other assigned interests.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: See essential job functions listed below.
· Act as an accounting expert within the firm’s Private Fiduciary practice area.
· Ensure Duty of Care by acting in a reasonably prudent manner.
· Ensure Duty of Loyalty by acting on behalf of the Firm without personal economic conflicts.
· Ensure Duty of Good Faith by acting in conscious regard to fiduciary responsibilities, including advancing the interests of the client and conducting business honestly.
· Maintain communication with Manager of Fiduciary Accounts and all appropriate involved parties as needed.
· Ensure all potential conflicts of interest are fully disclosed and strictly avoided, ensuring an ethical standard of management in the best interest of the client.
· Act as a contact for client and all relevant 3rd parties with coordination as needed.
· Ensure diligent and secured tracking of all activity pertaining to client interests.
· File and organize records (physical and digital) and trust materials in accordance with firm policy and with confidentiality, including proper indexing and filing of original legal documents.
· Ensure document production as needed (e.g., trust files, agreements, client documents, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS: See job qualifications listed below.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in fiduciary services, law, accounting and/or client/customer service.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required, law, business administration, organizational management, or relevant field(s).
- Demonstrated ability to organize and maintain ongoing financial records and processes.
- Experience in accounting functions (account payables, account receivables, and billing), preferably in fiduciary services.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly develop trusting client relationships and conduct ethical business practice with responsibility and prudence, in adherence to duty of care, loyalty and good faith.
- Demonstrated ability to reason quickly and thoroughly, make appropriate client-facing decisions, prioritize work, manage time, and organize tasks in order to uphold a high-value standard of client service.
- Proficient communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to read, interpret, and edit written content with accuracy, timeliness, and reliability.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all organizational levels within a diverse and fast paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Teams) and Adobe Acrobat.
WORKING CONDITIONS, HOURS OF WORK, AND TRAVEL: This role operates in a professional office environment with use of standard office equipment (e.g., computers, internet, phones, filing cabinets). All employees are expected to perform duties that regularly require them to speak, hear, stand, walk, use hands, sit for long periods of time, focus on a computer screen for multiple hours at a time, carry up to 30 pounds, and other reasonable functions. This is a full-time position with standard hours of work being Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM with occasional evening and weekend work required as business needs and job duties demand. A reliable means of travel/transportation to and from company office(s) is expected. Occasionally, out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
