We are currently adding new Welders for our Roseville, Coon Rapids, and Vadnais Heights locations. We offer flexible scheduling with either 3, 4, or 5-day work weeks on the 1st, and Wknd shifts! Responsibilities
- Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.
- Lay out, fit, and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements.
- Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications. (Class A & B)
- Develops templates or tooling and other work aids to hold and align parts. (Class A & B)
- Determines required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
- Clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, bolting, or grinding spare parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and create a welded final product,
- Igniting flame or striking an arc while welding or performing other electricity-related work to weld part of a metal structure.
- Control the processes of fitting, burning, and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheating, distortion, expansion, or shrinking of spare parts,
- Examining finished products and spare parts and comparing them with samples to check whether the specifications are met.
- Inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using a micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments
- welding metal, such as fusing metal segments, using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and other types of welding arcs
- Supervising and identifying any fault in operating the equipment or in relation to any material or equipment, then notifying the supervisors
- Being in charge of preparing and setting up necessary tools and equipment for welding jobs such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, or other welding equipment
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in TIG, MIG, and Tack-weld (TIG welding preferred)
- Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the mission
- Ability to weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Lift objects up to 50 pounds throughout the day
- Perform repetitive work for more than 8 hours per day and on weekends
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
