Title: Accounting – Receipts Specialist
Position Status: Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for receipt and analyzing remittance advices from government payors and private insurance companies.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Pull all electronic remittances
2. Receives and analyzes remittance advices from government and private insurance companies.
3. Accurately posts receipts, contractual allowances and other adjustments.
4. Identifies and forwards unusual contractual, low payments and denial activity as appropriate for follow-up.
5. Balances account postings to remittance advices.
6. Scan original remittance advices when done posting.
7. Posts payments received from patients and miscellaneous receipts.
8. Maintains records related to cash receipts and cash activity as necessary for compliance with and retrieval for audit purposes.
9. Writes up refunds to insurance companies and patients
10. Documents all action taken with patient accounts.
11. Assists patients and/or patient’s representatives with billing questions or concerns.
12. Works with Manager to continually evaluate and improve workflow and processes.
13. Maintains required records, reports and files.
14. Provides internal and external customer service.
15. Other projects and duties as assigned.
16. Reconciling of EFT's.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Graduate/GED.
2. Two years prior business office experience/healthcare accounting experience required
3. Willing to perform accurately repetitive tasks with close attention to detail.
4. Ability to work on multiple projects during any given day and prioritize new projects as they may arise.
5. Operate 10 key calculators.
6. Experience with computers required.
7. Basic knowledge of excel preferred.
8. Works independently with little supervision.
9. Medical background with working knowledge of CPT coding, insurance claims processing, UB-92’s, HCFA
1500’s, business office policy and procedures preferred.
10. Must be able to write or print English in a legible script, including numbers.
