What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Coordinator position at Lake Forest Academy?
The Purchasing Coordinator negotiates with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment and services used by Lake Forest Academy. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Essential Functions
Negotiate with vendors for products and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee
Establish purchasing policies and ensure compliance
Routinely interface with faculty, administration and staff in developing and evaluating procurement requirements and sources, while effectively optimizing cost, quality, delivery, warranty, and discount considerations
Negotiate corporate purchasing card programs
Manage and negotiate school vehicle lease agreements
Coordinate and manage “book buyback” for the end of the school year
Research, develop, and maintain service provider and vendor lists
Manage, research and initiate membership in group purchasing consortiums
Manage quality assurance procedures for the acceptance of goods and services
Manage the process for disposal of excess property
Other duties as assigned by the CFO
Qualifications
Minimum two years of purchasing experience
Bachelor’s degree in a business-related area preferred
Accounting experience preferred
Strong computer skills and ability to adapt easily to new technology
A willingness to collaborate in a team environment
Strong written and oral communication skills
Attention to detail and deadlines with strong organizational skills

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time salaried non-exempt position. Public office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, though additional hours including evenings and weekends may be required.
Compensation
This is a twelve-month position with 30 days of PTO per fiscal year. Lake Forest Academy offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that includes full medical and dental coverage, retirement benefit, and more. Final salary will be commensurate with the experience and expertise of the final appointed candidate.
