Lakeside HR Group has been engaged by our client to recruit for an Estimator. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates, detailed material packages, and schedules for the shell construction phases of assigned one to three story single family and multifamily residential buildings. This role will be remote and our client is open to candidates residing in the following states: Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Virginia.
Our client is one of the leading Residential Shell Contractors providing services to Homebuilders throughout the state of Florida. Our client was first established in 1992 and continues to grow. They are seeking to hire an Estimator who is ready to make a meaningful difference with a progressive company.
Responsibilities and Expectations: (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)
- Analyze plans, specifications, and scopes of work to prepare detailed take-offs which include the labor and material needed to complete the slab, block, beam, deck, and roof carpentry phases of construction.
- Using discretion and independent judgment, provides detailed analysis of material packages, labor rates, and schedules for Director of Estimating review.
- Assist the Director of Estimating to prepare for and direct job kick-off meeting. • Visit job sites as needed to clarify scope, plans or specifications.
- Prepare progress schedules.
- Assess and monitor cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
- Recommend plan changes and adjustments to material packages and/or piece counts to Chief Estimator, Project Manager, Builder Representative, Shell Supervisor or Area Manager. Supervisors.
- Maintain all applicable project specific excel files used in developing estimates and material packages.
- Verify block counts for Accounting.
Required Skills & Experience:
- B.S. degree in related field (drafting, construction sciences, engineering, etc.) or equivalent experience.
- Three to five years experience in construction estimating.
- Proficiency and experience in performing quantity takeoffs.
- Computer literate with emphasis on Excel. AutoCad experience is beneficial.
- Bid preparation, quantity take-offs, cost analysis and project scheduling experience.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading.
- Proficiency in using a digitizer or On Screen Takeoff software.
- Knowledge of how estimating affects all other areas of the company.
- Knowledge of the competitive bid process.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Team player with excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task and maintain ability to prepare accurate quotes while working under time lines.
- Position requires critical thinking skills.

- Proficiency in OnCenter OST and Quickbid software.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
