Geauga Transit Hiring Event

The Hiring Event will be held on August 14, 2024, from 2-6 at Geauga Transit at 12555 Merritt Road, Chardon, OH 44024.

Geauga Transit is looking to fill part- and full-time positions for Drivers, part time positions for Dispatchers and a full-time position for Service Worker.

A valid Ohio driver’s license is required for an interview. A commercial driver’s license (CDL) is not required for hire. All applicants must pass a background check, drug-test, ODOT physical (for drivers) and be available for six-week training class.

Being a Bus Driver

Being a Dispatcher

Dispatchers will direct the movement of on-road operations, schedules service requests, updates and notifies driver of ongoing changes to the schedules. Maintains continuous contact with drivers via radio or MDT and provides guidance and support to all Geauga operators. Answers telephone calls, collects and enters customer trip information, provides information about services. Responsible for the overall run-cutting and scheduling process for future schedules. Three shifts available at varying hours Monday-Friday depending on what shift is available.

Being a Full Time Service Worker

The Service Worker services and prepares revenue vehicles for the next day’s service. These duties include but are not limited to exterior and interior cleaning, fueling, adding oil and coolant, coordinating with Assistant Director, Transportation Coordinator, Mechanic and Dispatchers, and completing associated paperwork. May also check other company vehicles (vans, trucks, cars). Keeps Geauga Transit facilities properly cleaned and maintained. To perform essential tasks listed below, the worker will climb in and out of the vehicle (steps and/or ramps) up to ten times per vehicle, servicing up to 20 vehicles per shift. Hour will be 12:45-9:15 pm
