What are the responsibilities and job description for the Functional Architect position at Lam Research?
JOB PURPOSE: The Manufacturing GIS Functional Architect will interface heavily with business analysts and internal customers in Global Manufacturing Organization to assist the business leadership teams in implementing strategic programs and projects including Manufacturing Operations Management (MOMS) and Model Based Enterprise (MBE) initiatives. The functional architect is expected to provide counsel and leadership in the Manufacturing areas, to maximize efficiency while protecting the integrity of the overall solution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • As the recognized IT thought leader in the Manufacturing area, partner with fellow Solution/Functional Architect, Business Analysts, and Business Process Owners to collaborate and align business processes with solution architecture and deliver cumulative contributions with positive impact. • Collaborate with Manufacturing leadership team to provide solution option input on strategic initiatives. • Lead the mentorship and adherence of best practices and guide development of new ideas. • Proactively identify opportunities to standardize/improve processes that not only supports the customer-focused approach but ensures compliance to the business management goals and objectives. • Be responsible for laying out high level design by analyzing complex business problems via process and systems re-engineering • Identify, analyze, and communicate architecture and integration options and make recommendations. • Advise on the management of configuration and testing across various systems landscapes. • Lead proof-of-concept sessions to develop, prototype, test and implement solution improvements to increase stability, usability and functionality to enable business unit roadmap objectives • Understand non-SAP business systems and their interaction with SAP. Assist in the management of those systems as part of an overall solution portfolio. • Provide functional leadership, including interactions with partners and vendors, gathering business requirements, documenting functional designs and specifications, and evaluating / directing enhancements. • Mentor business and functional team members to increase their competency in SAP and other SW applications.
• Must have 20 Years of functional implementation experience with enterprise SW applications with at least 10 years as a Functional/Solution architect. • Must have working knowledge of Manufacturing Operations Management System • Must have Knowledge of EBOM, Planning BOM, MBOM, Production Orders and Shopfloor Routing • Must have knowledge of Sequence of Events (SOE), Work instructions (WI), non-conformance (NC) and defect handling and Tracking of serialized parts • Must have knowledge of BOM Management, Engineering Change (ECR, ECO) detection, implementation • Must be experienced with Data Management, Data Flows and downstream reuse of Master Data • Must have working knowledge of Design, iPLM, SAP and MES systems • Good to have exposure to Model Based Definition and Model Based Enterprise • Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of discrete/repetitive manufacturing • Must have experience with integration of SAP with non-SAP external systems (Supplier collaboration, 3PL, etc.) /internal legacy systems. • Demonstrates strong knowledge and application of testing strategies, methodologies and has been responsible for executing unit, integration and user acceptance testing • Proven ability to translate business requirements, processes and designs into well documented system designs. • Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills including the ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms • A team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate clearly, ability to work both independently and lead team of skilled individuals. • Successful leadership of a technical project/program with a large cross functional impact • Strong knowledge of Lam processes is a plus • Performed leading role in technical development of others within department • Be willing to travel as per the project Demand (30%).
