What are the responsibilities and job description for the Terminal Manager position at Lamers Bus Lines?
Lamers Bus Lines is now hiring a full-time School Bus Terminal Manager for our West Green Bay location. The terminal manager works directly with Regional Operations School Bus Manager in coordinating the day-to-day operations of the school bus terminal. Work will take place primarily in an office setting, with primary emphasis on dispatching and a variety of management duties.
Excellent communication and organization skills are required, with detail/accuracy a must. Extensive telephone usage and data entry will occur. Applicants should have previous transportation office experience, with school bus management experience helpful. Great personality and customer service skills are needed for this position.
Obtaining and maintaining a CDL with proper endorsements will be required. In-house training is provided to acquire the CDL and endorsements.
Job Duties Emphasis:
- Coordinate drivers and buses on routes and charters. Keep routes and charter operations operating smoothly.
- Collaborate with school districts to arrange transportation for charters.
- Communicate with drivers on daily basis. Provide route and charter information and maintain a good relationship with drivers. Make sure they have what they need to do their job effectively.
- Coordinate with shop staff, schedule equipment for routes and charters.
- Maintain accurate dispatch records for payroll purposes. Enter data into computer.
- Assist and collaborate with area terminals to cover routes and trips.
- Check in drivers and work with two-way radio during route times and throughout the day.
- Relay messages to drivers and handle concerns.
- Assist with reservations for school bus, provide accurate pricing for trips and enter trips into booking system.
- Generate and prep necessary driver paperwork
- Supervise cleaning staff so equipment is properly maintained and ready for use.
- Answer incoming calls. Handle if able to, or direct to correct department.
- Fill in on school routes and/or charter trips as necessary as a school bus driver.
- Provide assistance to other staff members if needed.
- Weekend duty rotation with other office staff will occur when established.
