Lancaster Farmland Trust (LFT) is a private, non-profit established more than 30 years ago to preserve and steward Lancaster County, Pennsylvania’s rich, productive farmland. Over the last three decades, LFT has preserved more than 34,000 acres of farmland on 550 farms and is now one of the most successful land trusts in the nation. To achieve our mission, LFT has developed an extensive grants program to support a variety of initiatives including land protection, water quality and capacity building.

The Grants Administrator will report to the Vice President of Development and
Communications, work under the direction of the Development Coordinator and play a key role as a member of the Development and Communications Department in the following ways:

Duties:

  • Assist with the administration of existing grant projects including narrative and budget reporting, drawdown requests and other funder requirements.
  • Assist with assembling and submitting grant requests including narrative, letters of support, proposals, budgets, and any other required materials.
  • Conduct prospect research to identify new grant opportunities that meet existing needs and work with staff to develop plans for submission.
  • Prioritize multiple deadline-driven projects to keep them moving, meet deadlines and manage the collection of supplemental materials required.
  • Provide writing support to the development team as needed in drafting solicitation letters and other cases for support.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2 years of applicable grant administration experience, required
  • Aptitude for strategic thinking and problem-solving.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent writing, analytical and research skills. (writing samples will be required)
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, detail oriented.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Ability to seek and synthesize information and communicate in a succinct form.
  • Knowledge of agriculture, farming and environmental issues a plus, but not required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
