The#MaintenanceManagerThe Manager is responsible for maintenance of the Wrightsville Foundry, Pattern Shop, and Machine Shop and works to ensure the safe, productive, and continuously improving operation of each facility and its production machinery, mobile and stationary equipment, and support systems including heat, electric power, gas, water, environmental control, and air. The Manager is also responsible for maintenance staff development and training.

Shift: 1st shift mainly but it's really an on-call job as we run 24 hours a day

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Work closely with the VP Ops, Plant Leadership team, and hourly work force to ensure the safe, productive, and continuously improving operation of each facility and its production machinery, mobile and stationary equipment, and support systems; ensure that Maintenance is never the reason for Donsco missing a Promise Date
  • Work with all levels of salaried and hourly operations staff to quickly resolve maintenance problems; provide leadership in recommending measures to improve the operation and condition of machines and equipment
  • Work closely with the VP Ops to determine maintenance strategy in each facility, especially shift configurations and the roles and responsibilities of in‐house staff versus outside contractors
  • Work with the VP Ops as needed to determine work priorities; ensure that significant work orders and shutdown plans (parts and labor) are reviewed, approved, and prioritized appropriately
  • Work with the VP Ops to determine the level of staffing needed to complete the work required of the Maintenance department
  • Evaluate breakdowns, establish root causes, and design and implement repair solutions
  • Ensure that the right number of Maintenance workers are scheduled for each day and shift and that the correct number of people with the right mix of skills are at work, on time, every day
  • Work with the HR department to recruit, select, train, discipline, and evaluate the performance of the Maintenance staff
  • Instruct the Maintenance crew in the use of safe and proper methods according to sound maintenance practice and equipment‐ and system‐specific procedures
  • Play the leading role in developing the maintenance crew’s skills and technical abilities so that they may all become highly proficient in the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities, equipment, and support systems.
  • Establish and ensure consistent and disciplined implementation of well‐defined PM schedules
  • Maintain inventories of critical spare parts; work with and through the Purchasing department and/or Maintenance Planner to ensure essential supplies and parts are always on hand.
  • Meet with vendors and sub‐contractors as needed to develop quotes, direct work, and monitor results to ensure that they conform to Donsco’s requirements.
  • Work to ensure that the maintenance shops are sufficient to appropriately support operations.
  • Assign maintenance work to the in‐house crew or outside contractors based on safety, quality, time, and cost considerations; direct and coordinate outside contractors as needed.
  • Understand the rated and actual operating capacities of equipment and systems.
  • Understand the ESH aspects of facilities, equipment, and support systems; 18. Gather and report key department metrics.
  • Review and maintain all facility‐ and equipment‐related blueprints and equipment specs.
  • Ensure that maintenance expenditures conform to monthly targets.
  • Develop and administer an historical repair record for each facilities element, item of mobile and stationary equipment, and each support system; audit records and procedures to ensure conformance with operational and industry standards.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS (BACKGROUND/SKILL/TRAINING):

  • High School Diploma as a minimum; Technical / Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of iron foundry maintenance experience; prior supervisory experience is a must.
  • Deep level of knowledge about the proper operation, repair, and maintenance of iron foundry facilities (inside and out), mobile and stationary equipment, and support systems.
  • Growing knowledge of pattern shop equipment and systems.
  • Deep understanding of foundry safety and security issues to ensure a safe and secure operation.
  • Solid skills to design Maintenance work flows and procedures, root cause and problem solving skills to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and solid project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication is a must.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Contributes to building a positive team spirit.
  • Able to build morale and group commitments to goals and objectives.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities effectively; uses time effectively.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office components including Outlook, Word, and Excel; strong knowledge of Maintenance software.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in both a temperature controlled smoke‐free office environment with quite noise levels and in a non‐controlled manufacturing environment with moderate to loud noise level. The individual is exposed to extremes in temperature on a frequent basis. Employee is required to wear designated PPE at all times while in the plant. Work may be performed near equipment with moving parts.
