Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm M-F with Overtime/ Weekends as needed. On call for emergencies.
Wage: $34.90 Hour

Job Summary:
The Controls Technician role will be responsible to install, test and perform Preventative Maintenance on all electronic and equipment controls at the Melrose Dairy Foods cheese plant.
Essential Functions:
- Advise and perform accurate installations, assisting in the programming, and performing Preventative Maintenance on all electronic devices.
- Program and maintain numerous process meters and transmitters. (Examples: flow, level, pressure, temperature)
- Program, maintain and modify Rockwell Factory Talk View applications
- Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot PLC programs, control components - photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, and variable frequency drives (VFD’s)
- Calibrate process instrumentation
- Provide maintenance support for all production and utilities related issues
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance, disassemble, examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear, repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment
- Assist in assessment of the programming and automation capabilities within Melrose to provide standardization as well as provide recommendations on implementation of automation and controls throughout the facility.
- Assist with maintaining controls platforms; equipment, network, PLC, servers, and provide technical solutions to issues that arise.
- Preventative maintenance of all controls, control systems, and electronic devices
- Assist in the establishment of plant standards through plant controls
- Assist in the development of a robust training program for maintenance team
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Two-year Associates degree in an established Electrical Technology Program, or three years of experience in a controls/instrumentation technician type role will be considered as a substitute for the degree.
- One year experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment as a controls or instrumentation technician is required.
- Able to do mathematical calculations.
- Demonstrated electrical and mechanical skills.
- Prior diagnostic, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance experience.
- Previous experience in a high-speed industrial work environment.
- Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) and networking of controllers.
- Experience with mechanical systems, utilizing product manuals, troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns, and reading mechanical drawings.
- 18 years or older.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and fix system issues.
- Self-reliant and able to work under limited supervision.
- Ensures a safe working environment while performing assigned tasks.
- Customer focused and able to work in a collaborative team.
- Ability to follow manufacturer's specifications and directions.
- Ability and willingness to work on mechanical issues and be mentored by maintenance personnel
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- 5 years' experience in Industrial Manufacturing Maintenance
- Electrical Journeyman or Licensed Electrician.
- Extensive experience with electrical systems, compressors, ammonia systems, conveyers, gearing, hydraulics, packaging, PLC, VFD, pneumatics, preventive maintenance, and pumps.
- Working Knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC’s, HMI’s, AC drives and industrial networks
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements
- Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment
- Working across temperature zones that may include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods and may include work in environments where dust is present
