The Laboratory Manager will be responsible to enforce safety and laboratory regulations, direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the daily testing of both finished goods and in-process products, read and analyze charts, work orders, laboratory schedules, and other records and reports to determine testing requirements and to evaluate current testing estimates and outputs.
Hours: M-F 5am to 2pm may require off-shift hours, weekends and holidays as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Enforce food safety and lab regulations.
- Direct and coordinate activities of employees (finished goods and in-process products).
- Determine testing requirements and evaluate current testing estimates and outputs.
- Ensure accurate results with the most efficient use of plant resources.
- Assist the management team in the maintenance of the quality system.
- Resolve worker complaints and drive culture of positive employee relations.
- Lead and manage internal quality programs and prepare for audits.
- Interacts effectively with production personnel to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Other duties as assigned
Experience-Education (Required):
- Four-year degree in related field.
- 2 years’ experience in a lab and/or quality program management
- Demonstrated effective leadership, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills at various levels of the company
- Effective skills, working cross-functionally in a fast-paced work environment
Competencies-Skills (Required):
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for dairy processing and good manufacturing programs.
- Experience in lab and quality program management.
- Must have strong Microsoft Office, word processing, data entry skills, statistical analysis skills
- Ability to communicate, orally and written, with a variety of people and negotiate priorities; capacity for meeting deadlines and managing multiple projects
- Solid organization and detail orientation, and excellent follow-through skills
- Ability to build a successful team, coach, facilitate change, and manage conflict

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, you are exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The temperature of the work environment can fluctuate to occasional temperatures from cold/cool to warm/hot. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud and will require ear plugs. While working in the manufacturing areas, you are required to wear personal protective equipment.
