The Plant Accountant supports our Melrose, MN Finance team and is primarily responsible for performing plant accounting functions, providing analysis of key performance metrics, and ensuring policy compliance with monthly financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct month-end responsibilities including preparation of journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and management reports
- Track and analyze daily production, cheese yields, and other related information
- Participate in the plant's annual budget process
- Prepare and assess fixed asset capital requests
- Prepare and present financial and operating metrics to the plant leadership team to drive continuous improvement in plant costs
- Support the Corporate AP/AR team by submitting, reviewing, and/or correcting purchase requisitions and invoices
Experience & Education (Required):
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting with a minimum of 2-4 years work experience in Manufacturing Accounting - preferred in Food, Dairy or related industries
- Must have a strong aptitude for numbers, be well organized, and be able to demonstrate proficient computer skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, JDE and other ERP systems
- Sound understanding of GAAP
- Experience in FP&A highly desirable
Competencies/Skills (Required):
- Knowledge of ERP software highly preferred
- MS Office with intermediate skills in Excel
- Highly detail oriented and organized
- Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
- Effectively communicates with all levels of the organization
- Demonstrates excellent presentation, oral, and written communication skills
- Executes outstanding internal customer communication and relationship building techniques
