How Will You Shine?
As a valued and successful Banquet Captain you will be required to:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Maintain staff that meet customer service standards.
- Train staff to provide service that meets quality standards that affect guest satisfaction.
- Give both positive and negative feedback that is timely and objective.
- Keep accurate documentation of performance.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Meet the Resort standards for work procedures, dress, grooming, attendance, and punctuality; report to work and return from breaks on time; give advance notice when absence is anticipated; require typical amount of supervision; accept work assignments without complaints.
- Prepare and arrange food or drinks that are attractive and appetizing to the guests; receive few complaints about the food served; inspect food being served; meet service standards.
- Set up tables according to function specifications; bus tables and service areas in a timely fashion; meet standards for cleaning tables, meeting rooms and other food service areas.
- Stock according to service standards; inspect to ensure stock is adequate before beginning functions; know what items are not available to guests; restock the self-service areas as food and beverages are consumed to prevent shortages; replace and rotate stock correctly; keep table condiments stocked during service functions.
- Follow new overtime policy and procedures. Clock in/out daily for schedule and lunch. No overtime will be permitted without the prior consent of the GM or AGM. Must complete the weekly labor progress report and ensure employees adhere to it.
- Act as direct liaison between guests and staff.
- Display knowledge of food preparation and service.
- Display knowledge of physical capabilities of banquet space.
- Ensure banquet rooms are set up according to contract.
- Report all unsafe conditions immediately.
- Assist Banquet Manager and Assistant Banquet Manager in activities relating to banquet department.
- Assist in the training and counseling of servers and attendants.
- Display knowledge of basic bar terminology and wine service.
- Display knowledge of opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain equipment related to banquets.
- Maintain inventory of banquet supplies.
- Set up portable bars.
- Assist in acquisition of special equipment needed for banquet functions.
- Attend required meetings.
- Creatively solve unusual customer requests.
- Directly obtain and receive goods for banquet functions.
