Turf Sales Manager
Department: Sales
Reports to: VP of Sales
Supervises: Project Manager
Purpose:
Manages turf sales operations within the dealership to maximize return on investment while achieving designated revenue, margin, and market share targets; attracting, developing, and retaining outstanding talent and effectively engaging department personnel; and exercising disciplined expense control.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze, understand, and monitor saturation levels of all Turf and Utility markets
- Define appropriate unit & metric goals including market share, profitability, and inventory management and plan for sustainable health of overall equipment business as well as location specific objectives
- Develop three-year plan to manage sales growth
- Understand sustainable new Turf equipment inventory levels by product category, product mix by class, distribution of inventory among locations
- Develop timelines and ensure execution and adjustments as needed to hit goals know reduction goal for each month as well as ending goal
- Understand current and historical trends due to seasonality, market trends, and anticipated future
- Help and plan for new equipment sales, develop unit budget forecasts
- Overseas pricing of new equipment and ensures compliance with guidelines
- Work closely with marketing to develop new marketing calendar, develop tactics to continue to move high-risk items and to achieve inventory goal metrics at key annual milestones
- Takes the lead in developing and implementing efficient process throughout the Sales Department and up through organization leadership.
- Help and plan for new equipment sales, develop unit budget forecasts
- Overseas pricing of new equipment and ensures compliance with guidelines
- Work closely with marketing to develop new marketing calendar, develop tactics to continue to move high-risk items and to achieve inventory goal metrics at key annual milestones
- Develop and manage effective incentive programs including but not limited to: discretionary budget, Dealer Growth Budget, pool funds, Medallion, etc. Monitors spend and impact to evaluate performance
- Help and plan for new equipment sales, develop unit budget forecasts
- Coordinates with Sales Managers, Location Sales Managers, and Sales Professionals to gather feedback and understand developing trends
- Based on the goals, communicates with Location Sales Managers and Sales professionals to ensure they understand their individual goals, key approaches to accomplish
- Takes the lead in sharing best practices and implementing common processes throughout the Sales Department and up through organization leadership.
- Manage the development and delivery of Sales process and product training efforts through Sales Special Projects Manager and Corporate Training Manger
- Work with Sales Managers and Location Sales Managers to communicate and hold Sales Professionals accountable to assigned trainings.
- Gather feedback from Sales Managers and Location Sales managers on training efforts tools, and timelines and adjust content and timelines as needed through Training managers
- Gather feedback from Sales Special Projects/ Training Manager and Corporate Training Manger on training efforts and provide direction to overcome challenges
- Biweekly calls to provide needed information and discuss work in progress and goals/needs for the month
- Share aftermarket product information
- Share available program opportunities
- Complete gap analysis
- Assign training to close gaps
Requirements
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:
- Equipment sales experience
- Ability to teach and coach sales professionals on selling techniques and sales processes
- Experience leading others
- Familiar with John Deere and competitive products
- Ability to use Deere sales computer applications and tools
- Ability to use software applications such as Microsoft Office and Deere systems
- Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in business or marketing preferred
Salary : $70,100 - $88,700
