What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Technician position at Landus Cooperative?
How will you have an impact in this role?
We are seeking someone to work in the Spring Season that is motivated individual to be part of the Landus team who will be responsible for our outside agronomy and grain operations.
What would you do?
- Greet all customers promptly and courteously
- Maintain and increase agronomy and feed sales, grain origination and marketing with existing customers and grow business with new customers, as applicable.
- Assist in all aspects of the elevator operations, if applicable to location
- Receiving and unloading grain operations
- Grain drying operations
- Measuring grain inventory on a weekly/monthly basis
- Grain train loading operations including cleaning and sealing cars
- Keeping facility clean, safe and housekeeping records current
- Maintain grain condition by testing temperatures and blending
- Able to operate train locomotive & obtain training certificate on locomotive operations, if applicable to the location
- Identify potential maintenance problems and complete necessary repairs
- Assist in all aspects of the fertilizer and chemical operations, if applicable to location
- Measure inventory and report it to the supervisor
- Assist in unloading bulk and packaged product
- Provide customer service by and loading chemical product orders
- Maintain and repair equipment as needed
- Keeping facility clean, safe and housekeeping records current
- Pumping bulk chemicals into customer tanks
- Tender to applicators
- Fill NH3 nurse tanks during season
- Understand basic agronomy chemistry of all products
The ideal candidate will have:
- Must have a valid driver’s license and/or have or be able to obtain a Class A CDL with air brake, tanker, and HazMat endorsements.
- Must be able to move/lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Understand the seasonality of an agricultural cooperative and the in-season time commitment.
Other skills that will help you succeed:
- Be able to obtain a Class A CDL with air brake, tanker, and HazMat endorsements.
- Participate in company DOT drug and alcohol program and maintain current DOT physical.
- Two to five years related experience.
- Good computer skills.
