What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sign Language position at Language Adventures?

We are currently seeking a part-time Sign Language Teacher to lead engaging and interactive sign language classes for students of various ages and skill levels.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sign language instruction and a passion for teaching and supporting diverse learners.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver dynamic sign language lessons that cater to the needs and skill levels of students.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and empowered.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and parents to ensure the success of each student.
  • Stay updated on best practices in sign language instruction and incorporate innovative teaching methods into lessons.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Sign Language Studies, or related field preferred
  • .Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of Deaf culture
  • .Previous experience teaching sign language to students of various ages and abilities
  • .Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • .Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • .Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Schedule: Part-Time, Tuesday & Thursday from 3-4pm.
Location: Wilmette, IL or Nearby Areas
