Job Summary Overview

Responsible for assisting with daily children’s activities and ensuring that the child activity center is maintained, clean, and tidy. Youth Recreation Attendants at Larchmont Yacht Club, play a vital role in supporting the overall youth experience for members. Under the supervision of senior staff and counselors assist with daily activities, provide guidance to campers, and contribute to a positive and inclusive environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and leading daily activities.
• Supervise and engage with youth during scheduled programs and free time.
• Support youth in developing social skills, teamwork, and independence.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of youth at all times.
• Assist with setup, cleanup, and maintenance of youth facilities and equipment.
• Serve as a positive role model for youth, demonstrating respect and inclusivity.
• Communicate effectively with staff, parents/guardians, and youth.
• Participate in training sessions and staff meetings as required.
• Attend and participate in pre-activity orientation and parent meet and greet when necessary. 

Qualifications

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience in a camp or youth program.
• Basic knowledge of first aid and safety procedures.
• Participation in leadership or mentoring programs.
• Enthusiasm for working with children and youth in a recreational setting.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and collaborate with peers.
• Must be able to meet the summer schedule and travel requirements of the position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Must be able to lift 25 pounds often and up to 50 pounds occasionally  
• Stand, walk, and work in a variety of temperatures daily

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Must be available to workdays, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Will work daily indoors and outdoors
