Join our team! Laredo Medical Center's (LMC) Emergency Room is now hiring a full-time ER Tech to work in LMC's 326 bed acute care hospital. The department is a secure, 38 bed Emergency room in the main campus of Laredo Medical Center. We have Level III Trauma designation. Everyone in the units report directly to the Director of ER. The Hospital is located in sunny Laredo, Texas, just 150 miles south of historic San Antonio. Read a full position description below.
Provides Emergency Room technical support for physicians and nurses to optimize patient care. Assists the RNs and MDs in providing technical care of the patients by performing phlebotomy and IV starts, performing 12 lead EKGs, transporting patients to other departments, placing patient on cardiac and vital sign monitors, performs Point of Care Testing, performing wound care, obtaining lab specimens and documenting all care/procedures provided. Assists the Emergency Physician with technical support such as suturing simple lacerations. Cleans equipment and workspace.
POSITION INSIGHTS:
- Performing phlebotomy and IV starts.
- Point of Care Testing.
- Techs will be responsible for starting IV access on all ED patients requiring an IV. They will also draw blood on all the patients assigned as well as running the point of care tests done in the Emergency department.
Applicants Job Requirements Include:
- Required: High school graduate or equivalent preferred or experience.
- Required: At least 1 year previous experience.
- Required: BLS, must be completed prior to patient contact.
- Preferred: Certified Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Nurse Assistant (Current and valid Texas Nurse Aide Registry by the Texas Department of Human Services), Nurse Ast, Phlebotomist, Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician or related field.
