What are the responsibilities and job description for the Election Judge/Poll Worker Temp position at Larimer County?
Overview
We have a short-term opportunity for you to join us as an Election Judge!
We need Election Judges to assist voters at voting sites during Early Voting and on Election Day, Tuesday, June 28, 2022. As well as assist our Elections Office with data entry, ballot transport, scanning, receiving, and counting ballots.
As an election judge, you will have the opportunity to give high-level customer service to your community and add an exciting new aspect to your civic engagement experience.
Most Election Judges work full-time for anywhere from a few days to a few weeks leading up to and immediately after Election Day.

Responsibilities
Weekend work may be required, and Election Judges must be available each day during their assignment. Assignments are available in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Estes Park.
After your application is reviewed you will receive a request by email to complete a Preferences Survey. This survey will collect additional information about your availability and your assignment interest. If appointed as an Election Judge, you will have the opportunity to review the details and confirm or decline the appointment.
All assignments require:
- Flexible and extended hours.
- Availability all days.
- Attention to detail.
- Teamwork.
Across various assignments Election Judges will:
- Greet and assist voters.
- Register voters.
- Issue ballots.
- Activate voting sessions on electronic ballot marking devices.
- Visit Healthcare Facilities to deliver ballots and assist voters.
- Transport ballot boxes and supplies.
- Work in the Elections Office performing data entry and answering phones.
- Receive, sort, and prepare ballot envelopes for counting.
- Verify signatures of electors on mail ballot envelopes.
- Process ballots through optical scanners.

Depending on the position, some of the following tasks and abilities may be required:
- Lift up to 25 pounds.
- Perform tasks in a busy and stressful environment.
- Work a long day on Election Day with few breaks (approximately 14 hours).
- Understand and read English.
- Sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
- Follow very specific directions and abide by legal requirements completely.
- Have knowledge of computers and be able to learn to use the Statewide voter registration system (includes accurately searching, inputting, and retrieving data).

Qualifications
Do not submit a resume when applying to become an Election Judge. Any included resumes will not be reviewed. No preference is given to applicants based on the decision to include or not include a resume as part of this application.
All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
- Be a United States Citizen.
- Be a Registered Voter in Colorado.
- Not have been convicted of election fraud, any other election offenses, or fraud.
- Not a candidate or related to a candidate on the ballot.
- Attend a paid mandatory training class.
- Ballot Transfer Teams require a valid Driver's license and successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Supplemental Information
An offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check for some positions. As marijuana is an illegal substance under federal law, testing positive for marijuana (medical or otherwise) or any other substance for which the county tests, will result in the contingent offer of employment being revoked.
Successful completion of the drug screen is defined as obtaining a negative result.
