What are the responsibilities and job description for the Press Lead position at Lasko?
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure PM Checklists are completed accurately.
- Prep press operators with necessary PPE and equipment before production begins.
- Take head counts and ensure that all staff is present. Report to press supervisor.
- Keep press machine’s status up to date throughout the day.
- Responsible for press machine productivity.
- Responsible for monitoring scrap and completing accurate counts.
- Monitor and review team performance.
- Rotate employees per supervisor’s schedule.
- Handle minor personnel issues/disagreements on the line. Report to the press supervisor.
- Train and place temps/new hires within the press department, as necessary.
- Press Lead will spend time training new operators. They will show the operator the best practices for each station of the press operation. They will also train the operator on their housekeeping responsibilities, such as cleaning their workstation during the day which requires keeping any debris off the floor and from under their feet.
- Identify and escalate quality or maintenance issues. Communicate with Quality and/or maintenance department when necessary.
- Complete production, downtime, and scrap counts as necessary and submit paperwork to press supervisor.
- Perform set up duties on a machine if short on staff.
- Fill in for absenteeism where necessary
- Maintain good housekeeping of press area.
- Assign cleaning responsibilities to the operators, as necessary.
- Other duties assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
- Must be able to understand and apply basic directions regarding safety procedures, quality standards, production goals, and company rules, regulations, and processes.
- Must be able to complete all the duties/responsibilities of the general labor roles.
- Must be able to make good, confident decisions.
- Must possess a positive attitude and good people skills.
- Ability to be on your feet (standing/walking) all day moving throughout assigned cell.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to read safety, quality, and manufacturing instructions
- Possess the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure.
- Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to effectively coordinate and monitor a team
- Ability to work independently in a fast pace, constant changing environment
