POSITION SUMMARY
The Waste Water Operator will be responsible for ensuring pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment, and other wastewater treatment equipment are functioning properly. The Operator will monitor equipment for potential failures and may make minor repairs or adjustments as needed. This individual will also collect water samples for chemical analysis. This role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is based out of our Seabrook, New Jersey location.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Determine the condition of the spraying fields and spray the wastewater evenly across all sections
- Pre-treat the wastewater prior to spraying which includes checking for analytical conditions such as pH
- Submit reports to the state on spaying volume and collection volume of waste eater
- Mow and maintain the spray field. Review and determine the condition of the spraying fields and mowing it as needed.
- Maintain the mowing equipment with the use of tools and determine the need for outside services to repair
- Maintain acceptable cleaning of the fields and pump house. Use clean as you go method to maintain order and cleanliness
- Occasional trash pick-up is necessary in the fields
- Treat water and spray field as needed
- Monitor chemical usage as it relates to costs and area budget
- Recommend usage of different chemicals to the Maintenance Manager for cost-effectiveness
- Record flow and appearance of wastewater
- Monitor, identify, and report unusual color and flow to QC and Plant Manager to determine plant QC issues related to it
- Maintain a safe work area by keeping the fields free of hazards such as smell, handling of chemicals, storage of chemicals, and storage of mowing equipment and parts
- Monitor hazardous conditions in the pond or the field and communicate findings to the Maintenance Manager
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Forklift certification
- N2 or N3 wastewater license
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the food/beverage industry
- Prior experience using industrial-grade chemicals, CIPs, and basic housekeeping background
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a production setting.
FREQUENT: Ability to talk and hear; ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, stoop, bend and/or crouch; push/pull; lift up to 50 pounds; use of hands and fingers to operate machinery/equipment and all manual and electronic equipment in the area of responsibility. Exposure to wet and humid conditions and fluctuations in ambient temperature (seasonal).
OCCASIONAL: Squatting, kneeling, ability to reach above and at shoulder height. Ability to wear a dust mask, and perform Confined Entry using LOTO program. Exposure to toxic and corrosive chemicals.
VISION: Ability to use close and distance vision, as well as color and peripheral vision with or without correction. Must be able to visually detect obstacles and potential dangers in a fast-paced production environment involving high-speed equipment and powered industrial lift equipment.
HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Exposure to noise levels from pumps, machinery, forklift traffic, bottle lines, and exhaust fans.
