SOL Program Coordinator 

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, 1 FTE

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

LOCATION: Main Office

COMPENSATION: $19.30 hourly 


Latino Network seeks a bilingual, bi-cultural mission-driven professional withexperience on implementing programming and led a full range of activities for students. Key prior experience includes:collaborate with school partners to provide high quality programming, buildingprofessional relationships with school staff and administrators, build positive relationships with students andfamilies, and promote pride, positive cultural identity and leadership among Latino students.

In this role you will support our community by:

  • Works as a team to implement student leadership group meetings at each site, either  during lunch or after school, depending on the needs of the students and the school. 
  • Integrates leadership program curriculum with a focus on cultural identity and students’ experiences  within schools, home, and community to develop solidarity, support and a sense of belonging. 
  • Provides connections and opportunities that relate to culturally specific role models and other resources.
  • Leverages the relationships of Latino Network staff in our existing programming and partners with school  staff and administrators to recruit. 
  • Provides virtual group engagement opportunities as well as access to service navigation to meet the  basic needs of students and their families. 
  • Schedules meeting times and duration at each school according to student availability, with a preference  for scheduling during a lunch period or after school.
  • Increases sense of belonging among participating youth. 
  • Facilitates meetings including facilitated discussions among youth participants, building on relationships within the group and connecting the students with participants at other sites, other programs such as Latino Network’s Conexiones program, and other individuals in the community. 
  • Increases positive cultural identity among participating youth.

Requirements

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum 4 years combined education, training and experience in early childhood education, early intervention, elementary education, special education, special needs service navigation, peer support, or a related field. Examples of experience, education and training that fulfill this requirement include, but are not limited to, volunteer or paid work, internships, community-based training and workshops, community college, trade school, university courses and degrees. Experience, training and education from inside and outside of the United States are considered equally. Transferable skills and lived experience will be considered.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and facilitating classes, workshops, or sessions for youth. 
  • Excellent bilingual (English and Spanish) skills in both written and verbal communications.
  • Experience in community organizing, outreach and advocacy.  
  • Knowledge of culturally based world-view and problem solving practices of Latino individuals and families in urban neighborhoods impacted by racial inequity, poverty and structural barriers required, bicultural preferred. 
  • Strong desire to promote educational equity in the community.  
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team.  
  • Ability to be flexible and creative in the work environment. 
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities.  
  • Basic computer skills.
