- Know qualities of metals and alloys being machined, including heat tolerance, hardness, and speeds and feeds.
- Thorough understanding of machining theory; machine capabilities, sequence of operation, and fixturing.
- Thorough understanding of how tools work and which tools perform what functions.
- Calculate shop math.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Able to schedule daily work requirements unsupervised to meet customer demands
- Work with a technician to troubleshoot minor machine problems
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
