About This Role
The Content Writer II position writes a variety of content for our LTL websites. Responsibilities include conducting in-depth research on industry-related topics and executing content marketing strategies to enrich our websites with original evergreen webpages, blog posts, news articles, features, guides, white papers, infographics and videos. Ultimately, the position delivers high-quality, succinct, fact-filled content that appeals to our audiences, attracts customers and boosts brand awareness. This is not a management position.

Role Expectations
- Use SEO guidelines, creativity and data-driven insights to write, rewrite and update content that will maximize web traffic, conversion and online visibility in search results
- Consistently deliver accurate, clean, well-organized and clear content for online consumption, including evergreen pages, blog posts, news articles, features, guides and white papers for our websites and for affiliates
- Research industry-related topics using online sources and interviews with experts
- Execute content marketing strategies with an understanding of the industry’s best practices
- Regularly recommend content ideas for yourself and others, such as infographics, videos and topics for new webpages, news articles and blog posts
- Have a basic understanding of customers’ needs and how to audit content on competitor sites, and seek ways to fill content gaps on our websites
- Have a clear, comprehensive understanding of the websites for which you write
- Stay updated on the latest topic developments and trends by finding, reading and understanding studies, news articles, journal articles and press releases
- Build a database of industry experts and advocacy groups for use as sources
- Build relationships with and contribute to reputable third-party websites
- Manage assignments using Wrike project management software
- Have an intermediate understanding of SEO tools
- Have an intermediate understanding of HTML and styles used on our websites
- Meet or exceed quarterly goals as set by your Content Manager
Quality Impact
- Obtain one certification and/or membership to a professional organization relevant to the topics you cover
- Become an expert on at least one topic covered on our websites
- Proofread and self-edit content before submitting it to the editor to ensure it meets the page purpose, follows the brand’s style, tone and voice, is free of inaccuracies and errors, and is formatted correctly
- Follow AP style and our internal style guide
- Provide basic SEO to all that you write, including title tags, meta descriptions, hyperlinks to related pages and sources
- Identify, vet and collaborate with industry experts to improve website quality and brand awareness
- Identify and alert your Content Manager to content errors and inconsistencies in brand voice and tone
- Ensure content is not duplicated across our websites
- Ensure SEO and content strategies are followed
- Write content and develop relationships that lead to media mentions and requests, positive Google My Business, Facebook and Better Business Bureau reviews, testimonials and links to our site on high-quality websites

- Inform the team on how to improve content strategies

- Build relationships and positively collaborate with SEO specialists to ensure SEO strategy is followed, and with designers and developers to execute new design and development ideas
- Work with individual contributors across the company to enhance the content you produce and ensure that the content on our websites is excellent for our business purposes

Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or related field
- 4 consecutive years of experience in a professional online writing environment
- Ability to write comprehensive online content about financial topics
- Experience doing research using multiple sources
- Competency in AP style
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines
- Ability to self-edit and apply editorial feedback
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
- Creativity and critical thinking skills

- Understanding of internet search and SEO and the ability to learn more about it
