Job Title: Lead Group Instructor of IBHS Group Services

FLSA: Non-Exempt; Part-Time

Reports To: Clinical Specialist of IBHS Group Services

Department: IBHS

SUMMARY

The Lead Group Instructor works within the ABA Group Classroom delivering evidence-based treatment interventions to a small group of children attending the program. The primary focus is to demonstrate skills that lead to improvement of an individual's behavior, decrease skills deficits, and promote emotional well-being within the ABA group program. The Lead Group Instructor collects data, while implementing evidence-based assessments and treatment interventions to assist individuals in developing age-appropriate self-management and social skills. The Lead Group Instructor is the primary point of contact within their designated group services classroom. The Lead Group instructor utilizes individualized assessments to provide clinical support and interventions to children in their classroom. The Lead Group Instructor is a 2 day per week part- time position within the IBHS group setting. If desired, staff are eligible for additional hours in the IBHS ABA setting.

In addition to the details and requirements for the employee listed below, Laurel Life expects the employee be committed to incorporating principles of trauma informed care in all areas of service delivery. Commitment to these principles in trauma treatment will be required through attendance in trainings and use of identified evidence-based practices. Trauma informed care includes cultural sensitivity and emphasizes a safe and respectful environment for all clients and staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement the behavioral intervention plans for the identified children in group classroom.
  • Implement and supervise daily group classroom schedule
  • Participate in interagency treatment plan meetings as needed.
  • Provide clinical oversight to Group Instructor within the classroom on a routine basis. Lead Group Instructor will work closely with the Group Instructor to ensure treatment goals are being implemented accurately.
  • Administer and interpret skills assessments and utilizes teaching/skill building curriculum (PEAK, VB-MAPP, Denver Model, ABLLS-R, etc.)
  • Maintain documentation for every billable contact. Prepare professionally written summaries and documents describing a client's behavior and progress in achievement of treatment plan goals.
  • Complete daily data collection to support data reviews.
  • Work as a positive team member supporting the team's mission and goals, consistently working in a trusting and cooperative manner with fellow team members and supporting the team's common operating approach.
  • Accepts professional responsibility and serves as a role model for positive, pro-social behavior; modeling respect, responsibility, integrity, empathy, impulse control, emotional self-awareness, and professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrates commitment to professional growth by attending all required meetings, trainings and organizational trainings.
  • Complete at least 16 hours of training annually that is approved by the PA Department of Human Services as outlined in the individual training plan.
  • Candidate will have to successfully complete and maintain certification of ESPI training. ESPI techniques are only used in compliance with Laurel Life policy and procedure and within guidelines established by third-party experts in the proper and legal use of ESPI.
  • Maintain an active valid driver's license issued by state in which they reside and must immediately notify their supervisor or Human Resources if their license is suspended or revoked for any reason.
  • May perform other special projects or duties as requested.

SKILLS

Possess specific expertise in the areas of Autism and Applied Behavioral Analysis with the ability to carry out individualized behavior programs using at least one or more models of ABA (such as PEAK, Verbal Behavior, Competent Learner Model, Lovaas Model, Denver Model). Training and experience in completion of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA's). Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop effective and meaningful relationships with clients. Must be able identify underlying causes of problem situations and recommend non-aversive behavioral change methods. Must be a team player.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE BACKGROUND

1.Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania as a psychologist, professional counselor (LPC), marriage and family therapist (LMFT), clinical social worker (LCSW), social worker (LSW), behavior specialist (LBS), certified registered nurse practitioner, or a professional with a scope of practice that includes overseeing the provision of ABA services. AND have one of the following.

a.1-year full time experience providing ABA services and a minimum of 12 credits in ABA from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by United States Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or the equivalent from a foreign college or university.

b.1-year full time experience providing ABA services under the supervision of a professional with a certification as a BCBA or other graduate-level certification in behavior analysis and a minimum of 40 hours of training related to ABA approved by the PA Department of Human Services.

The Lead Group Instructor will have an updated Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance, Act 34 Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Background Check, and Act 31 CPSL Mandated Reporter Training prior to working alone with a child.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work setting is primarily within the classroom setting with the group building and may include participation in daily living skills such as toilet training and feeding/eating at mealtime. Additionally, can include, but not limited to, home, community, or extended or kinship family home. Working conditions during recreational programs may involve physical activities. Clientele may at times be verbally or physically abusive.
