Successful Candidates Will Have

  • Comprehensive understanding of the plans and specifications for their item of work
  • Complete knowledge of earthwork hauling, backfill, excavation and utilities
  • Ability to read, shoot grades, and utilize pipe lasers
  • Understanding and knowledge of how to achieve specified compaction of soils
  • Ability to properly classify soil types
  • Understanding and knowledge of proper equipment utilization and daily maintenance requirements
  • Possess a Trench Safety Certification
  • Able to communicate effectively with crew, Supervisors, and Owners
  • A valid Driver s License
  • A high level of motivation and enthusiasm for what we do

Job Summary

Directs activities of workers concerned with construction of bridges, dams, highways, or other construction projects by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction the project schedule and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
  • Assembles crew members at the start of project.
  • Works with Superintendent to order tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
  • Confers with supervisory personnel to receive directions for crew and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
  • Confers with workforce personnel and subcontractors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
  • Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.

Education/Experience:
Five (5) or more years related experience and/or training experience (preferred).

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively co-works, crews, subcontractors, and supervisors.

Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts, ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
Ability to effectively utilize a tablet system for time card entry and plan document access.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages 2 or more subordinate craft workers. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of your crew. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
