What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of School - Grades (K1 - K2) for SY'2022-2023 position at Lawrence Family Development?
This administrative position is to oversee the daily operation of the Academy by maintaining consistent procedures appropriate to the management of all personnel, programs, students and equipment and to ensure a safe and secure school environment conducive to teaching and learning. Extensive experience in early childhood education is strongly preferred.Responsibilities: Arrive daily prior to the arrival of students to ensure supervision of students at all times.Work with the Principal concerning all issues related to the operation of the school site, including daily supervision of faculty, staff, students and building.Work with faculty, students and parents to set a tone of high expectations regarding attendance and commitment to learning and an environment of respect and discipline.Participate as an active member of the schools administrative team, supporting school improvement initiatives included in the School Improvement Plan.Implement approved LFDCS policies, procedures and directives.Participate in grade level Response to Intervention (RtI) meetings.Attend all meetings including Parent Coffees, All Leaders Meetings, Heads of School Meetings, monthly School Board Meetings.Specific Tasks: Students and FamiliesFacilitate open and consistent communication regarding school policies and expectations, specifically: Behavior, disciplinary infractions and consequences.Enforcement of uniform, attendance, timeliness and homework policies.Supervise arrival and departure of students, including student behavior on buses.Oversee student grades and parent conferences.Plan and implement Right from the Start parent trainings (K1)Plan and facilitate appropriate family activitiesPromote inclusive practices for all learnersFaculty & StaffInterview, check references, recommend staff members; ongoing all year as positions open.Conduct 90-day reviews of staff.Set goals, observe and evaluate staff.Ensure clear communication, support and ongoing supervision of staff.Promote and model the effective use of appropriate digital tools and technologies for communicating and conducting meetingsAssign before and after school, lunch, and bus duty.Set expectations for and provide oversight of staff attendance.Approve requests for absences and collect appropriate documentation.Arrange coverage of classes, substitute teachers.Conduct walkthroughs to monitor schedules and lesson implementation.Analyze, interpret, and disseminate assessment data.Oversee and implement the 504 process.Set expectations for teacher participation in RtI process.Conduct formative and summative evaluations.Establish procedures for and monitor distribution of supplies.Coordinate on-site special events.Create a positive, informed climate for collegial teaching and learningConduct monthly staff meetings.Oversee day-to-day maintenance, safety and cleanliness.Demonstrate commitment to developing cultural competence and the ability to advance the districts goal of acknowledging and celebrating diversity within our communityExperience/Qualifications: Masters Degree in related educational field (early childhood education preferred)Certified/certifiable Massachusetts Principal licenseDemonstrated organizational leadership skillsMinimum 3 years elementary teaching experience preferredCommitment to the goals and mission of LFDCS including urban education and high expectations for student achievement Ability to work as part of school-wide leadership teamAbility to motivate staff and students to high performance in all areasDemonstrated excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
