JOB DESCRIPTION – PRODUCTION MANAGER
TITLE: Wean to Finish Production Manager
REPORTS TO: Lonny & Lynn J. Becker
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for all aspects of wean to finish pig production with an emphasis on nursery pigs. Oversees production employees as part of a team. Coordinates and works closely with Co W2F Managers and Sales Manager.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist veterinarian with diagnostic activities and necropsy. One of main contacts for herd health issues. Work with veterinarian to determine herd health plans. Communicate on health status of pigs in the system and oversee proper treatment.
- Oversee grower sites – training, health, and proper chores oversight.
- Assist in development and delivery of pork production employee training programs and help develop and enforce standard operating procedures.
- Oversight of production employees in partnership with Co W2F managers.
- Conduct semi-annual internal barn audits.
- Inspects all sites and ensures that barn transition tasks and responsibilities are being carried out.
- Make sure barns are being properly maintained – cleanliness, ventilation, equipment, etc.
- Schedule maintenance when needed.
- Ensure proper function of ventilation and other barn systems. Work with controller representatives to maintain settings and operations.
- Assist with daily feeding and treatments if needed.
- Understand and help manage pig flow.
- Production record-keeping (data collection).
- Communicate with management team on current issues on a regular basis.
- Keep farm appearance, inside and out, clean, neat, and organized.
- Attend and participate in weekly manager meetings.
- Additional duties as required.
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Assist other departments when necessary
- Assist in special projects/requests when necessary
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Monday - Friday (generally 7 AM to 5 PM)
- Work every other weekend and available for "after hours'' calls and emergencies.
- Ability to work extra hours in spring and fall during fieldwork.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
