The responsibility of the Buyer is to efficiently procure all assigned product lines. Therefore, the ideal candidate must be a responsible individual with great attention to detail. As a buyer, you will need to negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive prices. The goal is to ensure that the business will always have adequate stock to meet the needs of the customers. That way we can deliver value to our customers through high-quality products and facilitate sustainable growth.
Job Functions:
- Place and Expedite all purchase orders for assigned product lines.
- Review and respond to daily shortage reports
- Maintain proper stock levels consistent with the need to support service level requirements and inventory days of supply goals.
- Direct all assigned vendors to ship merchandise in most cost-effective manner.
- Establish most favored payment terms with assigned vendors.
- Maintain shared electronic records for all assigned vendors, included but not limited to electronic catalogs and price sheets.
- Notifies Purchasing Manager of any major changes in product quality, cost, delivery or packaging.
- Advises Purchasing and Line Manager of any potential new products or product enhancements.
- Controls costs through vendor negotiations, volume buying, new sourcing, promotional discounts, and buying before increases.
Requirements:
- College degree in a business or analytical discipline, and/or five years of previous experience in a purchasing related environment.
- Computer literacy including spreadsheet skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Ability to read and write small letters and numbers; the ability to make arithmetic calculations; and the ability to understand written and oral instructions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
