Job Summary Lab Operations Supervisors are responsible for the day-to-day direction and management of accounts within the Flagship Facility Services’ Lab Support Service line. This position reports to their assigned Account Director and is responsible for supporting a staff of 10 lab support technicians and multiple client accounts. They are responsible for maintaining client support, ensuring the contract requirements are met and managing assigned employees. This is a management role, which requires commitment, communication skills and a willingness to learn. They will work collaboratively with other lab operations leaders (account directors/managers/supervisors/leads) and DENS leadership members to ensure the successful operation of the Lab Division. Job Description Essential Functions Serve as the primary operational liaison to key lab accounts and ensure best-in-class customer service is provided by responding to client needs, inquiries and issues. Provide leadership and accountability for scope of work, maintain communications between account director and technicians, escalate issues as required. Responsible for managing on-the-job training (OJT) and tracking of newly on-boarded lab technicians – meet with new hires to give operational and logistical orientation of team and worksites. Communicate with direct reports daily to ensure assigned technicians are meeting the client needs; ensure scope of work, daily task lists, and account deliverables are being met. Assist in kicking off new clients; including meeting potential new clients, providing orientation of the labs, developing scope of work and checklists for technician responsibilities and ensuring DENS standards are being presented and maintained to new clients. Visit assigned accounts and technicians on a regular basis to ensure quality of work and ensure policies/procedures are being followed. Provide clients and staff a point of contact for special project work requests and coordinate crews to complete tasks. Assist in specialized client requests regarding to lab moves and site relocations. Identify opportunities for additional services for additional DENS services and/or staffing. Ensure company policies are followed by all lab operations staff and implement progressive discipline procedures in conjunction with Account Directors, and/or Human Resources if necessary. Administer employee introductory period check-ins and annual reviews, and make compensation adjustment recommendations to executive team, if appropriate. Ensure direct reports’ weekly hours, including verification of necessary overtime, and their punching via iSolved Time is accurate and performed daily. Manage paid-time off requests and subsequent coverage issues, employee call outs, generalized employment and employee handbook questions. Communicates bi-monthly with accounting team to address any aging receivables for client account. Identify and develop process improvements and employee plans. Adhere to training and certification requirements, as instructed. Manage lab staff who are on call 24/7 at their sites. Provide backup/coordination of on call responsibilities for designated staff. 24/7 Response if applicable. Requirements If hired directly into this level position, applicant must have three or more years of experience working in the following settings: laboratory, mechanical, wastewater, facilities maintenance, or construction. If hired directly into this level position, all training/certifications listed must be completed prior to start date. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma Ability to read blueprints & construction plans/diagrams. Ability to follow orders given orally and in writing. Ability to complete tasks and paperwork without supervision. Computer skills (i.e. excel, word, outlook) Must possess an ACTIVE driver’s license & reliable personal transportation for site travel.
