Primary Function The Director - Corporate Accounting will partner with various areas of the business to own and oversee corporate accounting processes and affiliated business accounting processes. With a high degree of coordination with Senior Finance Leadership, the Director - Corporate Accounting is responsible for managing the monthly accounting close, overseeing all accounting processes associated with capitalized assets and leases, all cash processes, all expense accruals, payroll and benefits, all of the accounting processes associated with our title and appraisal management companies, supporting accounts payable, and enhancing reconciliation precision; for a national mortgage bank and servicer and wholly owned subsidiary of a publicly traded company. The Director - Corporate Accounting develop solutions for process improvement and serve as a liaison between the leadership team for corporate accounting. Candidates should have experience problem solving, be detail oriented and have the desire to manage and contribute to a fast-paced, growing team. Direct Reports Manager - Corporate Accounting Manager - Accounts Payable Sr Accountant Staff Accountant Principal Duties Oversee the daily and month‐end accounting processes for all Corporate and Affiliated Business accounting functions, including: All fixed assets, leases, and prepaid assets for all entities. All accounting processes and financial records for the Company’s title businesses and appraisal management company. Maintaining compliance with capitalization and expense management policies. Overseeing the expense accrual processes for all entities. All payroll and benefit accounting processes, for all entities. Cash processes for all entities, including entries, reconciliations, and cash transfers. Review and approval of various month-end reconciliations related to these processes. Work problem general ledger accounts to resolution. Implementing new processes for new product offerings, channels, and companies. Managing the standard journal entry tracker and closing calendar to meet deadlines. Streamlining processes to accelerate the closing and consolidation of subsidiaries. Overseeing vendor setup and appropriate 1099 tracking and reporting. Manage and review the work of ten accountants ranging from Staff Accountants to Managers. Work closely and address questions from senior leadership on the monthly accounting results. Serve as the primary accounting contact for the Affiliated Businesses. Review monthly results and investigate variances from expectations through budget to actual analysis and month over month flux analysis. Work closely with financial planning to analyze monthly accruals and vendor spend. Support various financial statement audits, regulatory reviews, and tax examinations. Support various system initiatives including asset tracking and reconciliation automation. Implement and enforce SOX processes and controls. Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA license a plus Experience working for a national public accounting firm or for a mortgage bank a plus At least 9 years’ experience working in a high‐volume, high‐pressure environment involving various reporting deliverables and requiring the use of advanced spreadsheet functions, databases, and reporting tools. At least 5 years’ experience serving in a supervisory capacity. Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements Aptitude and enthusiasm for process improvement and dataflow. Thorough understanding of a general ledger account structure. Ability to identify, research, and address issues. Requires organization, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and the willingness to complete projects in a time sensitive environment. Must be very proficient in Excel. Experience with Workday a plus.
