Job summary:

Fabricate metal parts using a variety of sheets of metal, installation of sheet metal parts with screws, adhesive or other general fastening methods. Proficiency in all areas of welding procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Be familiar with operation of hydraulic shears, press breaks, and punches
  • Read and interpret shop orders thoroughly
  • Must read blueprints and perform shop math to layout, fabricate and weld various parts and assemblies
  • Must be able to weld all types of metals, set and maintain welding machines and weld vertical, horizontal and overhead
  • Perform all Mig and Tig welding procedures, including machine settings, bottles and necessary fittings
  • Welding of mild steel and aluminum where required
  • Stay current in TPM and basic mechanical adjustment on all equipment as needed
  • Set work priorities to meet production goals as scheduled
  • Meet all QA and QC standards for each task
  • Meet standards of safety and 5S
  • Be compliant with the rules of conduct and attendance per company handbook
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Requirements (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):

  • Three (3) years sheet metal/body fabricating or acceptable training
  • Two (2) years prior welding experience
  • Must be able to pass and maintain an AWS Welder Certification
  • Must possess knowledge of Mig and Tig welding machines
  • Inspect welds for crack, burn through and weld spatter
  • Ability to perform maintenance on welding equipment
  • Ability to assemble customer prototype metal components
  • Ability to use grinder, sander, rivet guns, saws and other air tools
  • Ability to read, write comprehend and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English
  • Ability to read and use a linear and other measuring devises
  • Ability to recognize quality expected and be able to reproduce it

While performing the duties of this job:

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40#'s
  • The employee is regularly required to stand or walk; use hands to finger; handle or feel objects; and reach with hand and arms.
  • The employee is required to be squatting, kneeling or bending position
  • Ability to work from ladders or scaffolding
  • Ability to stand at stand at workstation for 10 hours a day
  • Ability to safely use specified hand, air, power tools and machinery
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • Ability to work with arms above head.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particle and vibration.

  • Work gloves when needed
  • Dust mask when needed
  • Closed-toed shoes
