ASSISTANT HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER
DETROIT, MI - DETROIT CONNER STREET PLANT
As a member of the Human Resources team, the Assistant HR Manager will be responsible to assist the Human Resource team in every facet of the human resource function with a primary focus on strategic HR initiatives such as employee engagement, labor relations, and strategic staffing.
The Role:
Your work will include, but not be limited to:
- Lead employee engagement efforts for the Detroit Conner Street plant
- Be a strategic partner to the plant operations teams
- Handles labor relations issues and counsel's employees/management as required
- Prepares confidential correspondence and reports
- Oversees recruitment, interviewing and hiring
- Prepare employees separation notices and related documentation and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation
- Undertakes or coordinates special projects and reports
- Knows and follows all safety, ISO14001/TS16949 policies and procedures. Designs and formalizes local policies as needed
- Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover
- Keeps records of hired employee characteristics for governmental purposes
- Directs training efforts of the plant through in-plant training and programs designed to improve team member skills in production, quality, and safety
- Directs the development of activities that are designed to give team members favorable image of their company and local management
- Performs any other duties required in pursuance of the function of this position or as directed

Your Qualifications:
- Four-year College Degree in Human Resources or a related field
- 4-5 years of experience as a Human Resource Generalist with proficiencies in benefits administration, employee engagement management and administration of collective agreements is preferred
- Computer literacy and the ability to adapt to impacts of changing legislation and work environment
- Good communication and organizational skills
Bonus If You Have:
- Master's degree in human resources
- Previous experience working in a unionized manufacturing setting
- Experience managing strategic employee engagement programs
