Position Summary: The Shelter Monitor will provide oversight to residents, complete necessary paperwork, attend to the immediate needs of residents, and help encourage a safe and harmonious atmosphere for residents
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure daily paperwork is completed in accordance with procedure
- Time Stamp
- Security Check list
- Kitchen Check list
- Maintain shelter policy without discrimination
- Ensuring client chores are completed in a timely and complete fashion
- Maintenance requests are filled out in a timely manner
- Perform drug testing and/or alcohol testing as needed
- Process intakes of clients as needed
- Help to resolve conflicts between residents
- Handle donations as needed
- Make Campus of Hope Director aware of the supply needs of the shelter
- Accurately track resident medications that are under the supervision of The Salvation Army
- Provide a caring and listening ear to residents
- Provide basic assistance and information to residents
- 3 Step corrective action plan for residents as needed
- Process exit paperwork when needed
- Clean empty rooms once resident has exited as needed
- Do Shelter and Social Services Laundry as needed
- Use of commercial kitchen and equipment
- Cook meals as needed
- Wash dry put away cooking utensils and dishes
- Must participate in Safe From Harm training class
- Must attend scheduled paid monitor meetings
- Must complete SERVSAFE Food Handlers Course & Earn Certificate
- Must complete American Red Cross CPR Course & Earn Certificate
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisory Staff
Qualifications:
- Should have a minimum of a High School Diploma with work experience in a related field a plus
- Must be flexible and able to function well in high pressure situations
- Must maintain confidentiality and comply with Safe from Harm guidelines and participate in training classes
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with co-workers, supervisor(s) and participants in program. This would include but not limited to such actions as: courteous treatment to others, respect of others property and person, and professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisor(s) and clients
- Must be able to function within the spiritual objectives of The Salvation Army understanding the mission of The Salvation Army is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs without discrimination
- Must be able to pass Salvation Army required employment checks, including a background check, and driving history
- Must have working knowledge of computers with emphasis in Microsoft Office, email applications, web based data entry a plus
- Several shifts available
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 30lbs
- Navigate a flight of stairs while carrying supplies
Work Environment: Will include but are not limited to, office space, commercial kitchen, client rooms, attic space, and basement spaces.
Work Hours: Monday-Sunday including Holidays
- 12:30am – 8:30am
- 8:30am – 4:30pm
- 4:30pm – 12:30am
In addition: Must be highly organized, motivated, and a self starter with the ability to multi-task and be creative, with little or no supervision
