This job is for part time/seasonal chess coach. We are looking for applicants who are interested in learning and growing while coaching chess. We need enthusiastic chess coaches to join our growing organization and help us spread our mission of using chess to help kids develop analytical, social, and leadership skills to help them succeed in school and in life.
Our primary purpose is not to make chess players great at chess (although, that will definitely happen), but instead to spread our love of chess as a tool for learning how to think to all of our students.
Coaches will work in our before/after school programs during the school year and then possibly in our chess camps on days and time periods when school is out.
Coaches will also help us run periodic chess tournaments and community outreach events.
School year programs run more or less during before and after school hours: 7am-9am and 1pm-5:30pm. Camps run from 8am-5pm. We do have some programs that run during the school day as well. Schedules are flexible and will be set based on what fits into your schedule and when coaches are needed
Candidates must:
-Live in or be willing to relocate to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
-Have reliable vehicle transportation to get around town to and from our various school chess clubs.
-Be able to pass a school background check.
-Be able to use smart phone/device technology proficiently.
-Have experience working with and teaching kids and coaching chess.
-Be willing to learn and implement our model for using chess as a developmental tool for our students.
-Have some experience playing chess
