About the Role:
The Sales Representative supports all aspects of sales including customer service and order processing, industry and product knowledge, proactive lead and sales generation, sales team collaboration, and event support. The Sales Representative is expected to be enthusiastic and knowledgeable about plant cultivation. It is a highly independent role that requires taking initiative, managing self and time effectively, and representing the company and representing manufacturers with integrity and professionalism at all times.
What You’ll Do:
Lead Generation and Sales
- Build relationships with assigned and acquired accounts, providing excellent customer experience by phone and in person.
- Build rapport with retailers through onsite visits and personalized product recommendations.
- Analyze customers’ purchase histories to identify opportunities for product sales; identify unspoken and potential customer needs.
- Capture sales through proactive engagement, aiming to land orders via 70% outbound calls and no more than 30% inbound reactionary sales.
- Leverage a variety of online and offline resources to identify prospective customers.
- Continually brainstorm, create, and execute lead-gen and sales campaigns in coordination with other Sales Team members.
Customer Service and Order Processing
- Conduct outbound sales by contacting potential and existing customers, especially by phone.
- Conduct inbound sales by providing outstanding customer service to existing accounts.
- Answer incoming calls in a prompt, professional, and prepared way.
- Process phone orders and identify potential upsell opportunities.
- Help troubleshoot web orders, late deliveries, and order-processing challenges.
- Ensure customers receive purchase-related information, such as estimated delivery schedules, warranty coverage, and return policies.
- Be knowledgeable about product catalog, prices, and availability.
- Relay product-related customer feedback to management team.
- Use Salesforce Online to prepare for calls, log call activity, and create and follow up on assigned tasks.
- Use Fishbowl inventory-management software to place, edit, and troubleshoot orders.
Industry and Product Knowledge
- Pursue continuing education about market conditions, customer trends, basic environmental regulations, and industry developments, through sales or trade-related events, vendor or manufacturer meetings, conferences, and publications.
- Stay current with trending products, brands, vendors, and competitors.
- Study scientific and technical product documentation to understand proper use and effects of products carried.
- Understand and communicate the fundamentals of cultivation, such as methods, NPK ratios, calcium lockout, and common nutrient deficiencies.
Event Support
- Participate in the setup and breakdown of company installations at events and assist public engagement and effective brand representation with event attendees.
- Manage all aspects of event-related planning, including travel, samples, inventory, promotions, documentation, and occasional orders.
What You Bring:
- High-school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years of cultivation experience highly desired.
- 2 years of sales or customer service experience required.
- Must be at least 21 years old and pass a criminal background check.
- Current knowledge in both the gardening and cannabis horticulture marketplaces is a bonus.
What You Have:
- Computer: Highly functional on a modern computer. Equipment provided.
- Salesforce Online: Experience helpful
- Fishbowl Inventory: Experience helpful
- Typing: 35 WPM or better, able to type and carry on a fluid conversation simultaneously.
- Google Apps: Proficiency with Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, and security and sharing knowledge. Able to manage multiple Google Apps email accounts.
- Documents: Manipulate documents in multiple programs to change content, such as to add data, insert signatures, provide edits.
- Printing: Familiar with network printing, driver installation, and troubleshooting.
- Internet Research: Must be HIGHLY internet savvy.
- Culture match: Support the mission and spirit of the organization.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High-school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years of cultivation experience highly desired.
- 2 years of sales or customer service experience required.
- Must be at least 21 years old and pass a criminal background check.
