FT Sandblaster - Painter
2nd Shift 4:00pm-3:00am
(4 - 10 hour days)
Legacy is the leader in the fabric building industry. We’re seeking experienced industrial sandblaster. The sandblaster uses abrasive blasting equipment to remove paint, grease, rust and dirt. The sandblaster is responsible for shoveling or pouring sand, grit or other abrasive material into the machine while monitoring and maintaining an adequate supply of the abrasive in the hopper.
The sandblaster’s control of the pressure and direction of the abrasive material is vital for preventing surface damage and injury to coworkers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare all surfaces needed prior to blasting
- Set up equipment needed
- Preparing parts for the paint booth
- Maintain equipment and work area
- General maintenance of sandblasting equipment, such as cleaning and changing nozzles and prevent accidents
- Quality checks on parts
- Maintains company work standards
- Backup painter who is efficient with painting equipment and procedures to meet company standards
- Experience with forklifts, overhead cranes and power tools common to the welding trade
- Ideally have some knowledge in welding
- Responsible to maintain paper work organized and up to date
- Organized and detail oriented
- Communicate job progress to supervisor as needed
- Cleans work area, machines, tools and equipment
- Layout, position, align and secure parts prior to painting
- Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits while performing his/her job function
- Able to read a tape measure
- Responsible for following quality standards and inspects parts for quality before and after painting
- Perform other duties as assigned including the ability to cross train in other areas of the plant
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Work in extreme cold and heat; and/or wet and humid conditions and Follow safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 to 3 years of surface preparation experience is preferred, but an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable
- A sandblaster’s duties require physical stamina, comfort handling heavy and potentially dangerous machinery and great attention to detail
- Mechanical aptitude with ability to comply with inspection checklists, operating maintenance instruction, government regulation and other work- related information
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Must be willing to operate a forklift in safe and efficient with the ability to obtain a certification
- Respirator certified and able to pass respirator certification test annually
- Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player
- Previous history of consistent attendance with the ability to be to work on time on daily basis
