Agricultural Loan Specialist I

Description/Job Summary

The Agricultural Loan Specialist is responsible to service all assigned lenders in administrative support and loan duties. With direction of the assigned loan officer, credit memorandum and support from the loan origination software and related systems, the LSS will collect and prepare all supporting documentation to secure LNBs collateral positions for each loan transaction. In addition, the LSS must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of farm operations, land use and value, production of various crops and livestock, and prices and markets in the farming area where loans are made and serviced. This position functions with general supervision by AVP, Agricultural Loan Specialist and SVP, Loan Servicing/Operations Manager.

Major Duties and Accountabilities:

Loan duties include but are not limited to:

• Takes part and embraces the Legacy Culture and gives outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
• Abides by all bank policies.
• Utilize bank's software systems to work efficiently with loan and account transactions.

PRE-FUNDING - Processing and Servicing

• Review credit memorandums to receive direction on the type of loan transaction that needs to be prepared. Loan transactions to include Commercial and/or Agricultural Loans.
• Prepare, review and assemble loan documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with bank policy and federal banking regulations. Prepare funding documentation as needed.
• Coordinate loan closings for lenders with all outside and internal parties. Prepare funding documentation as needed.
• Work assigned lenders technical exceptions to stay within policy compliant limits.
• Assist with the packaging of FSA guaranteed loans.
• Recommend and implement processes for the Agricultural team as necessary to improve efficiency.

Schedule Requirements:

• Attendance Requirements:
  • Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Overtime, weekend and evening work may be assigned on an exception basis.
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such levels as is determined by supervisor.
  • Overtime hours may be required and will be specified only by the supervisor or manager to meet operational needs.

Working Conditions:

Environment:

• Duties take place in an office setting.

Physical:

• Occasionally lift, carry, or otherwise transport boxes of work weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Vision requirements include close vision.
• Employee enters data into a computer up to 6 hours a day.
• Work is mostly sedentary in nature, no special demands are required.

Qualifications:

• Must be 21 years of age
• A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required
• Previous banking/loan experience, preferred
• Agricultural degree, preferred
• Knowledge of Farmer Mac, FSA and SBA guarantee loan products and eligibility requirements, preferred
• Computer skills to include strong typing abilities are required
• Strong written and verbal communication skill required
• Must have strong interpersonal skills
• Must work well in a team environment
