What are the responsibilities and job description for the Therapist position at Legacy Treatment Services Group?
The Therapist provides assessment, treatment, psychoeducational and clinical services for parents working towards reunification, and works out of the Bridgeton office (Cumberland County). Visitation is court ordered by DCPP; parent program attendance is voluntary. Visitation occurs in a therapeutic office or community setting. The therapist works out of a centralized office. Cases are assigned based on the address of the parent being served.
Therapist assists with improving client well-being and functioning by conducting clinical assessment, guiding therapeutic interventions that address barriers, providing psychoeducation to clients and families, as well as consultation and coordination with allied professionals. Participates in supervision, trainings, and professional development activities. Identifies client needs/areas for improvement from completion of the biopsychosocial assessment during intake. Develops and implements comprehensive, individualized treatment plans based on assessment that are aligned with the family’s reunification goals. The therapist ensures proper implementation of the treatment plan and adjusts plan as needed to best meet the consumer at their level of functioning. The therapist conducts clinical interventions which includes individual and family support as appropriate to program and client. Manages crises and re-assesses youth and family needs. The therapist assists in monitoring safety during a crisis and seeking appropriate level of care, if needed.
The Therapist coordinates discharge and aftercare, including any necessary recommendations to external providers. Works with the treatment family/direct care workers on issues of behavior management, crisis intervention, understanding the nature of client’s challenges and ensuring the emotional well-being of children in out of home placement. Writes visit progress notes, therapy notes and monthly summary to be sent to DCPP. Ensures compliance with Agency policies and procedures regarding work practices and expectations. Uses knowledge of professional ethics to inform clinical services and assist families towards reunification and improved family bonds. Must be able to drive an agency owned vehicle.

Education/Experience:
Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, psychology or a related field with a license as a LAC/LSW or LPC/LCSW required. Must have previous training and experience providing behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and their families.
