Job Summary:
The success of our company is centered on building quality homes at an affordable cost and delivering them on-time through an amazing buying experience. This starts with strategically leading the purchasing and cost estimating functions from product development through production. The Director of Supply Chain coordinates all aspects of the homebuilding purchasing function including budgets, trade partner contracts, bid process, trade partner relationships, cycle time, and value engineering. The director ensures that we have top-down visibility into our entire supply chain, streamlined communications with our suppliers and procurement and construction procedures based on best practices in the industry.
Duties/Responsibilities:

This position will be responsible for coordinating the procurement processes for the Company. The director will work with the VPs of Construction and Purchasing Managers in each division and facilitate an ongoing process of information sharing, forecasting, best practice implementation, and supplier communications.

Participate in existing and new plan design processes to assure timely acquisition of materials to support product launches and field requirements.

Execute plan changes working with Houston Division Purchasing Manager to ensure timely and accurate completion.

Collaborate with Corporate Process Improvement Manager on plan changes and implement Division level execution.

Drive standardization of processes and procedures, transaction methods with suppliers, supplier selection processes / ongoing supplier management, data collection, negotiation, performance improvement, cost reduction and construction methodologies across all Divisions.

Lead negotiation efforts on purchase agreements and vendor contracts with a bias for achievement of quality, delivery, cost containment and process improvement.

Work with the VPs of Construction and Purchasing in all divisions to ensure that we have the best processes and tools in place for the construction and purchasing teams.

Ensure to onboard only the best trade partners in order to meet our manufacturing needs.

Understand the material supply chains of specific cost categories and implement material sourcing strategies to optimize flow.

Facilitate value engineering sessions with trade partners.

Review plans, create/revise budgets for multiple new and ongoing communities.

Education and Experience:
-
Bachelor's degree in Construction, Business or another related field or have 7-10 years of experience in a similar position.

5 years of management experience.

Exceptional and demonstrated proficiency in relationship-building and contract negotiations.

Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, reporting, and contract management.

Thorough understanding of construction projects, associated documents (blueprints, specifications, etc.), and comprehensive knowledge of residential building practices from acquisition to completion.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Professional office environment and field visits.

Must be able to safely navigate through all areas of a home construction site.

Periodic travel required.
