ONE WORLD OBSERVATORY
Positioned at the top of One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, on levels 100, 101, and 102 – One World Observatory (‘OWO’) provides guests with unique, panoramic views of New York City, its most iconic sites, and surrounding waters from 1,250 feet. A customized guest experience complements the seemingly endless views - which evoke feelings of the City’s signature pride, hope and determination - including special interactive experiences and dining options, plus a sit-down restaurant.

THE ROLE
Under the direction of the executive chef, the sous-chef Is responsible for effectively supporting culinary operations Including the oversight of all production, operation, and sanitation aspects of culinary and stewarding operations throughout the facility. The role reports to the executive chef.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in maintaining high standards of sanitation and cleanliness
- Aid the Executive Chef in maintaining the highest possible rating from the Health Department
- Assist in the training, safety, sanitation and accident prevention controls within the kitchen
- Helps to develop and test recipes as well as techniques for food preparation and presentation to ensure high quality
- Assist in the assurance of consistent food qualities in both presentation and preparation
- Help ensure that all recipes and methods are being followed
- Ensure the maintenance of kitchen equipment
- Report and document hazardous conditions or unsafe practices within the work environment
- Contribute to the creation of menu specifications for all food items including all pricing information
- Work directly with the Executive Chef on food production and menu development
- Ensure high and consistent food qualities in both presentation and preparation
- Assist in the checking and tasting all food before events take place
- Work closely with other sous-chefs and make sure all products go out in a timely manner and stay within required temps
- Must be the “Last Person” out of the kitchen and ensure proper closing. Will also report to the Shift supervisor before they depart the building.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- A culinary degree or have graduated from a certified apprenticeship program with a minimum of 2-3 years management experience in high end restaurants, or foodservice industry for a sports and entertainment venue
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment
- Strong commitment to delivering a high level of customer and client service with demonstrated initiative, leadership, and management skills
- Customer service oriented with the ability to interact with all levels of management
- Flexibility to work extended hours due to business requirements including late nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software
- High level of attention to detail, organization, and prioritization
- Strong leadership skills
- Experience managing in a union environment is a plus
COMPENSATION
$70k - $80k bonus and a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401(k) plan
