What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Analyst- Network Operations position at Legislative Budget Board?

The System Analyst position is responsible for maintaining network security, supporting numerous Hyper-V servers and will assist the with help desk requests, including workstations, printers, mobile devices and other equipment as needed by the LBB staff.
     
This position reports to the Network Operations Manager and operates under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the initiative and independent judgement.
  • Maintain security, configuration and critical updates on virtual and physical servers running Hyper-V, Microsoft Windows and Linux. 
  • Assist the Network Operations team with help desk requests as needed. 
  • Assist with maintaining equipment and physical inventory. 
  • May conduct occasional training classes. 
  • Stay abreast of current technology and offer suggestions for improvement. 
  • Contribute to or complete additional assignments that meet agency or legislative needs. 
  • Knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, NAT, and security testing tools. 
  • Knowledge and experience with Office 365 administration and configuration. 
  • Knowledge of the OSI model and network stack. 
  • Knowledge of Windows Server O/S and Hyper-V. 
  • Knowledge of DHCP, DNS, LDAP and Azure AD. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot network and IP related issues. 
  • Think critically, use initiative and good judgement. 
  • Communicate professionally and effectively in writing and in formal presentations. 
  • Create timely, relevant, accurate and polished work products.
  • Use business tools successfully (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, customized applications, desktop pc, laptop/tablet, and smart phone).
  •  Ability to provide excellent customer service. 
  • Work at a computer for extended periods of time.

Education and Experience:
   Minimum Qualifications
 
  • High school graduation or equivalent. 
  • Network and/or Security certifications required. 
  • Two (2) years of experience managing Windows and Linux network security.  
  • Two (2) years of experience working with network protocols, routers, switches and the IP stack. 
  • Two (2) years of experience working with DHCP, DNS, LDAP and Azure AD. 
  • Two (2) years of experience working managing and maintaining Windows Hyper-V servers. 
   Preferred Qualifications     
  • Associates Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar. 
  • Four (4) years of experience managing Windows and Linux network security. 
  • Two (2) years of experience working with network protocols, routers, switches and the IP stack. 
  • Two (2) years of experience working with DHCP, DNS, LDAP and Azure AD. 
  • Two (2) years of experience working managing and maintaining Windows Hyper-V servers. 
  • Two (2) years of experience working with IIS and digital certificates.
