Position Summary
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Color Sorter Operator operates, maintains, and cleans Color Sorter equipment in accordance with company Safety/Food Safety requirements.
Position Responsibilities
- Follows all Olam Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Preventive Controls Rules, and Occupational Safety Rules.
- Monitors, cleans, and maintains the operation of all the various electronic eyes and sizing system equipment used to separate damaged product and foreign material from good product and maintain APSA grades.
- Monitors, cleans, and maintains various pieces of equipment used to size, convey and clean shelled peanuts located in shelling and blanching plants and maintains the sanitation of the entire facility as needed.
- Fills in at various job stations to include but limited to hand picking tables (whole kernel line, split line, and bar ready line) quality control lab and packaging line.
- Extensive climbing and lifting
- Requires employees to disassemble and reassemble various items located inside the electronic eyes such as the ejectors, lamps, and control boards.
- Completes various jobs assigned to him/her daily including communicating with other colleagues regarding operation of equipment, changes in flow rates, processing capabilities, bin readings safety and maintenance issues, paperwork, sanitation, maintenance, safety assignments and food safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing facility, or similar relevant experience
- Must be detail-oriented
- Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, to bend, and to stand or walk for long periods of time
- Willingness to work in shifts (late or early hours, weekends, and overtime if necessary)
