VACANCY: Production Group Leader – 2nd Shift
(must be flexible to work differing shifts based on business needs)
PAY RATE CLASSIFICATION: BRACKET III $1.00/hour
PAY RATE: $27.52
Job Summary:
This position is responsible to ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), and safe work practices are followed by all department employees in the efficient operation and production of quality product throughout the Production Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operation of the floor as requested by the Cheese Supervisor as needed, including helping with daily production labor assignments, leading pre-shift meetings, and completing Shift Summary Reports for Cheese Manager, etc. and partner with Supervisors in extraneous events, utilize Maximo to recommend repair or replacement, and be able to inspect equipment for potential extraneous.
- Interpret production related data and make production decisions based on the data and respond to any equipment or operation failures and troubleshoot equipment problems and follow up to ensure efficient operation.
- Communicate effectively with other operators, department management, and representatives from other departments as it relates to production operations.
- Assist in training employees regarding PSOPs, GMPs, proper sanitation, safe work practices, good housekeeping, etc. and report when these policies and practices throughout the department are not being followed.
- Enforce GMP and safety policies as needed.
- Assist in coordinating production training in relation to mandatory job skill requirements outlined in the production division technical training guidelines.
- Verify accuracy of data being captured in the MES system and make adjustments to plant operations accordingly.
- Monitor production process to meet required customer and regulatory specifications and enter Quality Alerts as required.
- Issue maintenance work orders as needed and perform special projects as assigned.
- Cover for vacant operator positions per Union requirements.
- Forward employees concerns and issues to Production Supervisor or Cheese Manager as needed and establish and maintain an employee friendly environment.
- Know all job functions of the Production Department positions, including but not limited to disassembly, assembly, and making minor adjustments to all production equipment.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Must be able to work flexible schedule in order to support 24/7 operation, including weekends, holidays, and off-shifts.
- At least one year of prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, dairy or food manufacturing a plus.
- Must be able to read and write and perform basic mathematical functions.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Action-oriented and the capacity to drive for results.
- Demonstrate the ability to lead others effectively, including training, coaching, and developing others.
- Familiarity or ability to learn SAP, MES, or a similarly integrated manufacturing system.
- Ability to influence and communicate upward, laterally, and downward without any direct line authority.
- Proficient computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office products.
- Capacity to demonstrate composure, display compassion, and the ability to resolve conflict at the shop floor level.
