Position: CDL A Driver/Waste Specialist
Reports to: Environmental Compliance Manager
Direct Reports: None
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by practicing and complying with all Health and Safety policies and procedures and attending all required safety training programs,
- Supporting the Environmental Compliance Manager with the labeling, packaging, transportation and disposal of a variety of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams,
- Driving commercial vehicles to support Company’s Environmental Waste Disposal Services,
- Maintain all DOT and OSHA certifications as required to drive a CDL truck and while transporting Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Materials,
- Adhere to all regulations regarding the safe transportation of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste,
- Labeling, packaging, loading, and unloading waste containers from the waste transport vehicle,
- Safe transportation of a variety of waste streams in transport vehicles ranging from Vacuum Trucks, Vacuum Tankers, Stake Body’s, and Tractor Trailer’s,
- Perform other duties and job tasks as assigned by management to support the needs of Lewis Environmental business,
Additional Skill Sets (Preferred)
- Lab packing and waste handling experience preferred.
- Experience with a variety of waste transportation vehicles including rack trucks, vacuum trucks, straight trucks and tractor trailers.
- Experience with working with various chemicals and/or chemistry knowledge.
Requirements
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Criminal Background plus acceptable FMCSA record.
- CDL A with Tanker and Hazardous Materials endorsements required,
- Strong focus on Safety, Quality, Honesty, Integrity, condition.
- 40 Hour OSHA and related Safety Training is a plus.
- 2 Years’ Experience as a CDL Driver is strongly preferred.
- DOT Examiner’s Certificate
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time operating a motor vehicle
- Ability to lift 60 lbs
- Ability to work in severe weather conditions both hot and cold
- Work and travel in inclement weather
- Ability to stand and exert physical effort performing manual labor
