The Industrial Designer will be responsible for ensuring that the product and marketing efforts support the company’s overall strategy and goals. This person is responsible for completing design projects and related marketing activities. Additional duties will include various marketing functions.

Responsibilities

• Design new products using research, store walks, and team input with a planned-out vision from concept presentations to user experience.
• Make recommendations on existing product to reduce costs and, provide production streamlining and or reengineering.
• Collaborate with our manufacturing partners to source and sample materials and products before getting them ready for prototyping and mass production
• Position will include engaging with Materials, Operations and QA on projects to ensure that timelines are monitored to meet product deadlines for the marketing and product development tasks.
• Work on in-house production and prototyping for product, packaging, merchandising, displays and POS
• Work closely with client specification manuals to assure packaging and display specs approved through the design process.
• Design packaging that meets all QA standards for both in-house and private label brands
• Work closely with the Product, Marketing, and Sales teams to generate new concepts and ideas to evolve our physical product offerings in the notebook/writing space
• Create cohesive user experiences for our products
• Communicate high-impact concepts through effective storytelling using 2D skills and creating physical prototypes
• Continuously test designs and concepts with users for quick feedback

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Understanding in the terminology used to communicate, and product design
• Ability to quickly envision product concepts as sketches, renderings, theme boards, and presentations.
• Ability to translate user insights into actionable product ideas
• Excellent communication skills (visual, spoken, and written), flexibility and willingness to embrace and drive change

Experience

Bachelors Degree in Industrial design, or Design engineering

A minimum 1-2 years of Industrial Design or Physical Product Design experience (experience in lifestyle or security products is a plus)
An initiative-taking innovator known for your fresh perspective.
Fluency in both 2D and 3D design tools (Rhino or CAD, Solidworks, and Adobe CC) to produce high-quality renderings and detailed manufacturer-ready specs.
Experience with physical prototyping utilizing 3D printers and a variety of other methods
Strong creative thinking, problem-solving, and storytelling skills
Strong time management skills

Understanding of the product development process

Basic knowledge of mass manufacturing techniques in the field of plastic, metals, MDF and other substrates
Ability to anticipate, adapt, and iterate quickly

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $68,965.00 - $73,590.00 per year
